University of Karachi while successfully tackling around 58 postponed semester examinations due to various reasons, is now going to start the new session on January 17. Orientation classes for newcomers would be held on January 15 if the routine affair goes on as usual.
Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi, Dr Shahana Urooj while talking to Business Recorder on Monday confirmed that the new session will be started on January 17 after holding the orientation classes on January 15. Dr Shahana said that due to bomb blast, Chief Minister's announcement about Sindhi Topi & Ajrak Day and various other reasons forced the administration to postpone the semester exams as well as cancel some examination papers five to six times.
She said now almost all semester exams have been completed, except one semester paper which is being held today (Monday). She said the classes for new session would start after the completion of semester exams. If the classes were started before the completion of semester, it may create a lot of problems for those students who are in second & third year. Explaining the university rule she said that those students who passed the 80 percent subjects in the exams would be promote for the next year.
The new students had to suffer a lot in connection with submitting their admission fees due the continuous changing in dates, but now the process have been completed, she added. The Pro VC said that due to these reasons the regular and external BSc, BA, MBBS and BDS exams had also been postponed but now the new dates have been announced and the examination of these postponed papers would be held mostly on Sundays to organise the other exams and classes. When asked about the completion of admission process, Urooj said the process for new session has already been completed on Saturday.
