Within the framework of trilateral co-operation among Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran via Joint Planning Cell (JPC) four joint operations were conducted against drug trafficking rings. An official of Narcotics Ministry told APP that from the four, two were conducted by Iran and Afghanistan and two other operations were conducted by Iran and Pakistan.
He said that in the course of two first operations that led to a severe confrontation by Pakistan, Afghan and Iranian anti-narcotics forces with drug traffickers 196 kilo opium and 175 kilo heroin were seized. He said that the operations were conducted in an area between Dogharoon border point and Zolfaghar area.
"The other operation was conducted in Pak-Iran border area as a result 231 kilos of opium, 48 kilos of heroin and 385 kilos of hashish were seized and two Kalashnikov rifles, one RPG ad one vehicle were confiscated," he said. He said in the last operation 900 kilos of opium, 282 kilos of heroin and 483 kilos of hashish were seized.
