Grant given under KLB: National Assembly panel expresses dissatisfaction

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Women Development Thursday expressed its dissatisfaction over the grant given under Kerry Lugar Bill to Aurat Foundation for Gender Equality Project. The meeting of the Standing Committee was held in Parliament House, under the Chairpersonship of Bushra Gohar, MNA.
The committee directed the Ministry of Economic Affairs Division (EAD) to prepare a briefing for the next meeting consisting grants, its process, transparency, mechanism and accountability that should be done by the government. The committee members expressed concern over the absence of the representatives from USAID and also recommended inviting USAID and Aurat Foundation in the next meeting to discuss the grant given under Kerry Lugar Bill. The meeting was attended by MNAs, Shakeela Khanam Rashid, Qudsia Arshad, Dr Attiya Inayatullah, Ishrat Ashraf, Nisar Tanveer and Shaheen Ishfaq on special invitation.
