THE RUPEE: dollar a bit lower

Steady trend was seen on the currency market on Thursday as the rupee resisted fall versus dollar in process of trading, dealers said.
In the fourth Asian trade dollar held steady against yen and euro, maintaining overnight gains, and could strengthen more after strong private employment data lifted expectations for Friday's US payrolls number.
The greenback took a breather against yen after rallying 1.5 percent on Wednesday for its biggest one-day rise in more than three months, as dollar selling by Japanese exporters tempered the rally.
The euro eased slightly to $1.3141, hovering near trend line support at $1.3110, with another possible downside target lurking at $1.3081, the euro's 200-day moving average.
Indian rupee was available at Rs 45.32 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was trading at 3.0705 in relation to the US currency and Chinese yuan was at 6.6246 in terms of the greenback.
While, the rupee extended its gains in relation to euro, gaining Rs 1.20 for buying and selling at Rs 111.90 and Rs 112.40, they said.

The dollar showed strength and recovered some of its earlier loss on account of increasing demand, according to the moneychangers. The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.50 and Rs 85.75, as its buying and selling rates and ended with improvement on both sides at Rs 85.60 and Rs 85.85, respectively, they added.
On the contrary, the pound sterling remained under pressure in the local market. The pound was traded at Rs 132.30 and Rs 133.00, as its buying and selling rates, as compared to last Tuesday's closing at Rs 133.00 and Rs 134.00, respectively, the moneychangers said .
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.55 (buying) and Rs 85.80 (selling) against the rate of Rs 86.20 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.55 (buying) and Rs 85.80 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.20 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling) in the morning session. It did not observe further change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 136.20 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling).
