The Karachi Port handled 84,576 tonnes of cargo including 55,845 tonnes of import cargo, 28,731 tonnes of export cargo, 4,994 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 55,845 tonnes comprised of 23,092 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,453 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,217 tonnes of DAP; 26,387 tonnes of coal; 849 canola seeds and 300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,731 tonnes comprised of 22,250 tonnes of containerised cargo; 893 tonnes of general cargo and 5,588 tonnes of cement.
Four ships namely Bunga Raya Empat, YM Asia, Alitis and Transocean with containers, canola and sugar sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three vessels viz Jakarta Express, Tuna-7 and Lodestar Genesis carrying containers, coal and chemicals are currently at the berth.
Four ships namely James River Bridge, Polaris Stardom, Jakarta Express and Kota Arif carrying containers, chemicals and containers expected to sail on Thursday, while two ships namely STX Patriakos and Christina with containers and cement are expected to sail on Friday.
Four vessels viz Polaris Stardom, STX Patriakos, OEL Sheryas and Samin-1 carrying chemicals and containers due to arrive on Thursday, while eleven vessels viz Bow Century, Sea Hope, MT Lahore, Galaxy, Courier, Titiana Schulte, Simber, Sima Sahba, OOCL Charleston, Alliance Beaumont and Pacific Champ with tallow oil, crude oil, palm oil, containers, vehicles and coal are due to arrive on Friday.
The total export cargo 17,255 tonnes includes 4,151 tonnes of rice and 13,104 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MV MY Voung and DA Hua are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz MSC Aurelie, Aruni Rickmers, Logonda, MV MV Troy, MV MY Voung, MV Yon Phung Ho, DA Hua, Lanka Mahapola, Gulf Crown and Chem Orchid are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, sugar, project cargo, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Three ships namely CGM Coral, CGM Effel and CSAV Cantabrian carrying containers are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three container vessels viz CGM Coral, CGM Effel and CSAV Cantabrian are expected to take berths at Container Terminals on Thursday.
