Funeral prayers (Ghaibana) of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer were offered at the heart of city Chowk Allama Iqbal here on Wednesday afternoon. People belonging to different walks of life, including members of PPP and PSF attended the funeral prayer. Complete strike was observed in Sialkot against assassination of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer.
Shopping centres, shops and other business centres remained closed in Sialkot and many other adjoining areas as mark of respect while normal traffic remained very thin in the city. Dozens of supporters of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) took out protest rallies against the brutal killing of Punjab Governor and blocked the city roads by setting up tyres on fire and blocked the traffic. The PPP workers chanted slogan in support of PPP leadership and demanded the speedy and impartial investigation into brutal murder of Salmaan Taseer.
