Lawyers condemn assassination

Published Updated

The lawyers' community on Wednesday strongly condemned murder of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer and demanded of the government to investigate the matter properly and arrest the real faces behind this conspiracy. Former Vice Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council Mian Abbas Ahmed, High Court Bar President Shaikh Jamshed, Former President of High Court Bar, Qamar-uzzaman Butt said that the Punjab governor was a bold and realistic person.
His murder may be a conspiracy to destabilise the political system of the democratic government in the country, as he was fully aware of the political diplomacy and knew how to face political challenges. They said that Taseer's killing was not only the murder of a person but it was a big plan to paralyse the democratic system and disturb the law and order situation.
They said that if any person commits any sort of crime then a trial was held in the court and it would decide whether that person was guilty or not, but no one has the right to award punishment to any suspected or alleged person for any crime. To kill a person was totally wrong, illegal, unlawful and also against the Islamic principals. They said Taseer's fault was that he was an outspoken, realistic and a brave person.
