Mixed trend prevailed at Lahore share market on Wednesday amid descending transaction volume. The LSE-25 index showed marginal decline of 0.42 points and closed at 3746.99 points against 3747.41 points of Tuesday. Trading turnover, however, squeezed to 6.142 million shares, as compared to 7.805 million shares traded yesterday.
Brokers said holiday mood prevailed in the share market as some of the investors stayed away from the market on account of funeral prayers of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer at Governor House. HBL, Attock Refinery, ICI, Nishat Mills, PPL, OGDC, Arif Habib Corporation, ABL, Century Paper and Board and Treet Corporation resisted pressure and registered gains, while PSO, MCB Bank, Engro Corporation, Honda Atlas, UBL, Summit Bank, DS Industries and SSGC suffered losses.
Gainers were just ahead with losers, as of 113 traded scrips, 31 showed strength and 30 went down, while values of 52 companies remained unchanged. HBL gained Rs 3.40, Attock Refinery improved by Rs 3.23, ICI Pakistan appreciated by Rs 2.30. Nishat Mills, PPL, OGDC, Arif Habib Corporation, ABL, Century Paper and Board and Treet Corporation were up by Rs 1.57, Rs 1.48, Rs 1.38, Rs 1.19, Rs 1.18, Re 1.00 and Rs 0.70, respectively. PSO lost Rs 2.65, MCB Bank declined by Rs 2.05, while Engro Corporation, Honda Atlas, UBL, Summit Bank, DS Industries and SSGC were down by Rs 1.92, Rs 0.79, Rs 0.66, Rs 0.55, Rs 0.44 and Rs 0.40, respectively.
