Massive electricity loadshedding has made a comeback, haunting the consumers countrywide, who are already bearing the brunt of gas loadshedding. Citing canal closure the reason for power shortage of 1,500 MW, PEPCO says it has to resort to load management.
I have only two questions to ask the PEPCO. One, is it not a fact that canals are closed every year for desilting? If yes, then why persistent loadshedding this winter only.
Two, the Federal Minister for Water and Power has said that 1,800 MW has been added to the PEPCO system during these three years. If so, then where the additional thermal power generation has gone?
