Grams, Irri Sindh-6, cottonseed oilcake depict firmer trend on commodities market
Yellow peas Canada, yellow peas dal from Ukraine, Irri Sindh, cotton cakes, showed firmer trend, as world price too remain on the higher side during the week ended on January 1, 2011. Sindh Government had declared local holiday on opening day and hence most markets were closed consequently not a single variation in price was noted.
On Tuesday gur prices tumbled of course inferior type by Rs 300 to Rs 6500, while other type conceded sharply by Rs 400 to Rs 7000, Khandri shed even more by Rs 500 to Rs 10,000, as fresh arrival made supply pretty comfortable. Bajra low type lost Rs 25 to Rs 2475, while better quality shed Rs 100 to Rs 2900. Irri 6 Sindh had modest gain by Rs 50 to Rs 3350, while the other variety was quoted at Rs 3375. Cotton cakes with bag rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1260 and Rs 1280.
On Wednesday gur and peas ware noted on the higher side. Gur low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 6600 but the other type showed no change at Rs 7000. Wheat old with bardana lost Rs 5 to Rs 2645, while new one conceded Rs 10 to Rs 2655. On the gram side gram from Australia low type was at Rs 3100, while better type lost Rs 200 to Rs 5200. Gram dal from Australia gave in Rs 100 to Rs 6200 and better type was quoted at Rs 6400, grams 50x50 was quoted at Rs 5600 to Rs 7000, yellow peas Canada showed strength rising by Rs 50 to Rs 3175 and Rs 3325, yellow peas dal from Canada rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3550 and Rs 3150, yellow peas from Ukraine rose substantially by Rs 125 to Rs 350 and Rs 3150, yellow peas dal from Ukraine rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3450 and Rs 3600. Cottonseed cakes with bag low type rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1270, while better type was unchanged at Rs 1280. On Thursday gram side, rapeseed Nawabshah low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2325, while better type rose by Rs 40 to Rs 2340. Rapeseed Mirpurlane scaled higher by Rs 50 to Rs 2300 and Rs 2325. Rapeseed cakes low type conceded Rs 5 to Rs 925, while better type lost Rs 10 to Rs 930. Cottonseed cakes with bag low type gained Rs 10 to Rs 1280, while better type gained Rs 20 to Rs 1300. On the rice side Irri 6 Sindh low type stayed put at Rs 3356, while the better type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3400.
On Friday no change was seen in the overnight rates on the wholesales grain and seed market, as all participants were busy in Juma prayers and also because of countrywide strike call given by religious parties. On Saturday makai gained Rs 25 to Rs 2575-2600, other items maintained their overnight levels. Gur low type did not move any side at Rs 6600 and best type posted fresh gain of Rs 200 to Rs 7200. Khandsari was quoted at Rs 9000-10,000. Only one deal was reported on the rice sector, where Irri-6 Sindh low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2400 and best quality was up by Rs 25 to Rs 2425 due to strong demand. Cottonseeds oilcake with bag inferior type fell slightly by Rs 10 to Rs 1270, while the good type was unchanged at Rs 1300, other items retained the overnight levels in process lacklustre activity.
