Power shortfall remains over 2000 megawatts

Published Updated

Power shortfall remained over 2000MW amidst acute gas loadshedding. According to the PEPCO sources the electricity generation systems generated 9830MW against a demand of 12212MW. Supply to the KESC also fell to 670MW. Power generation through hydel stood at 2641MW, followed by 1431MW through thermal, 569MW through IPPs and 62MW through RPPs.
It may be noted that the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf regretted on Saturday for issuing deadline on overcoming the loadshedding. It has depressed the consumers' sentiments further, already screwed by the latest increase in petrol prices.
