Like other parts of the country a peace solidarity rally was taken out in the provincial metropolis of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Saturday. The rally was started from Saddar Road and culminated at Peshawar Press Club (PPC). The participants of the rally were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of peace. Idrees Kamal of the Amn Tehreek (Peace Movement) led the rally.
Those participated in the rally were included Mohammad Jan Gigani, Rakhshinda Naz, Mukhtar Bacha, Tariq Afghan, Shamim Shahid, Shabina Ayaz, Zar Ali Khan Musazai, Manzoor Afridi, Dr Sarfaraz, Iqbal Afridi (PTI), Shazia, Faisal Khan, Nazra Syed, Haroon Sarbadiyal, Salman Shehzada, Shagufta Malik, Samina Afridi and a large number of students.
Addressing the rally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussein said that the ANP was voted to power with the sole aim to restore peace in the Region. He said that the ANP led government had been concentrated its full attention for restoration of peace as progress and prosperity sans complete peace was impossible.
The Information Minister maintained that the province and its people were in dire need of peace. He said that in a situation, when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was in grip of terrorism, holding of such peace rally was very encouraging. He thanked the participants particularly women folk in the rally. Mian Iftikhar Hussein said, it was a clear message to the terrorists that there was no place for terrorism and their elimination was unavoidable as the whole society was on one side and the terrorists on the other.
He reiterated the resolve of the government that till complete restoration of peace and elimination of the last terrorist, the government would not sit in rest and its jihad would continue. The information minister asserted that we were not fighting the war of only Khyber Pakhtukhwa or Pakistan but fighting the war of the whole humanity, therefore, the world community should come forward and help us in this jihad.
