With hundreds of boats already at moorage for reduced fishing activity, the new surge in prices of petroleum products by the government, many fishermen see as hard as a nail, warning about their inevitable financial collapse.
Strong hostile winds on the sea have already forced many seafarers to drive their boats back to moorage for finding it difficult to continue fishing in harsh winter with declining temperature as a time when fish inclines to dwell on seabed. The nominal existing activities at present are expected to reach nothing. Hundreds of fishermen are feared to stay unemployed for a span longer than they may have already expected with the government's move of giving a fresh rise to petroleum items prices. Many fishermen talking to Business Recorder in response to the petroleum price surge said they saw the government move "as hard as a nail", adding that "there will be limited option left for hundreds of fishermen to continue their jobs as seafarers".
