The transporters have demanded the government to induct their representatives in Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to bring the matters to the public transparently regarding the hike on petroleum products.
President, Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI), Syed Irshad Hussain Bukhari and President All Pakistan Edible Oil Tankers Association (APEOTA) Bakhtawar Wazir while talking to Business Recorder, demanded to include the representatives in the OGRA so we would know about the global trends on petroleum prices.
KTI President, Syed Irshad Bukhari said that there was a representative in Oil Companies Advisory Committees (OCAC) during Musharraf times around 4 to 5 years back which used to revise of petroleum products prices.
APEOTA President, Bakhtawar Wazir said we had longstanding demand to the government that whenever transporters' representatives are not included in the OGRA, we would increase the fares ultimately. Wazir said that transport fraternity is not aware about international petroleum prices clearly so we need transparency on government affairs regarding petroleum prices.
