Hike in POL prices: Transporters planning to increase fares by Rs 2

Transporters strongly condemned the recent hike in petroleum products' prices and said they were planing to increase public transport fares by Rs 2 in wake of hike in POL prices. President, Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI), Irshad Hussain Bukhari while talking to Business Recorder on Saturday said the recent hike in petroleum products' prices had created severe problems for the transporters.
He said an emergency meeting of transporters was called on Tuesday to discuss the situation arising out of the hike. He said that the transporters would demand of the government to withdraw the decision, otherwise they would go on strike. Bukhari said that transporters while considering public problems did not increase fares when OGRA increased oil prices in October, but now the transporters were left with no other option but to increase fares.
