Ministry of Commerce on Saturday said that the Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) will come into effect on 31st day after exchange of instruments of ratification between the two countries. A statement issued here said that it has been wrongly reported in a section of press that APTTA will be effective from today (January 1).
It said that the APTTA was signed on October 28, 2010 in Kabul by the Commerce Ministers of both the countries. The agreement has also been ratified by the cabinet in its meeting on December 1, 2010. The Instruments of Ratification has been signed by the President of Pakistan. The Instruments of Ratification are expected to be exchanged soon between the two countries. "It is clarified that under the article 54 of APTTA 2010, the agreement will become effective on 31st day of Exchange of Instruments of Ratification between the two countries," the statement added.
