The amnesty schemes of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)--the Companies Regularisation Scheme (CRS) and Companies Easy Exit Scheme (CEES)--have been extended to January 3. According to a statement issued here on Friday the schemes were to be closed on Friday.
However, due to a general strike on Friday and bank holiday on Saturday, most of the companies may not be able to submit their documents. On requests made by the stakeholders, Company Registration Offices of the SECP were open up to 6 pm on Friday to facilitate submission of documents under the schemes. Moreover, further facilitation has been provided to companies by extending the schemes up to Monday.
The companies are earnestly advised to avail of the schemes within the stipulated time, by either regularising through filing of their overdue returns under the CRS or strike their companies off the register under the CEES, as strict action shall be initiated against the defaulter companies, after closing of the schemes. The detailed information is available in Circular No 27 of 2010, placed at the website of SECP.-PR
