The Karachi Port handled 153,367 tonnes of cargo including 116,038 tonnes of import cargo, 37,329 tonnes of export cargo, 4,009 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 116,038 tonnes comprised of 15,377 tonnes of containerised cargo; 620 tonnes of general cargo; 34,689 tonnes of bulk cargo: 974 tonnes of sugar; 22,000 tonnes of coal; 11,715 canola seeds and 65,352 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,329 tonnes comprised of 31,425 tonnes of containerised cargo; 800 tonnes of general cargo; 5,104 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,738 tonnes of cement and 2,366 tonnes of rice. Six ships namely Bunga Raya Tiga, OEL Trust, APL Agate, Hyundai General, Urawee Naree and Iron Butterfly with containers and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessel viz OEL Trust, Thuringia Express, Fatima and Christina carrying containers, repair and cement are currently at the berth. One ship namely CSL Ride with containers expected to sail on Thursday, while five ships namely Hansa Stavanger, Ocean Host, Thuringia Express, Christina and SD Nova carrying containers, cement and canola seeds are expected to sail on Friday. One vessel viz Hanjin Beijiang carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while five vessels viz Bux Melody, TS Nogoya, Liberty Promise, Nordana Andrea and Medi Chennal with containers, vehicle, steel and coal are due to arrive on Friday.
A total number of eleven vessels viz CV ACX Hibicus, CV Ville-D-Orion, MV Lanka Mahapola, MV Al-Jaber, MV MY Young, MV Yon Phung Ho, MT Scichem Melbourne, MV Panaglotis-D, MT Hartati, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Chemroad Fuji are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, sugar, chemicals, seeds, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Three ships namely MSC Nederland, ST Martin and Timios Stavros carrying containers, LPG and rice are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three container vessels viz namely Glory, Lahore Express and MSC Nederland are expected to take berths at Container Terminal-No 1 and Container Terminal-No 2 respectively on Thursday, while another container ship namely CV CSAV Jura due to arrive on the same day. Two container ships namely CV MSC Anafi and CV Saudi Abha are due to arrive on Friday, while another container ship namely CV Rio Elder is due to arrive on Saturday. A total number of two vessels viz MSC Jade and Maersk Utha carrying containers are also due to arrive.
