As many as 43 candidates on Wednesday filed nomination papers for 21 seats of Lahore Bar Association on the last day of filing nomination for the bar's annual election scheduled for January 15 next. According to the list issued by the bar, four candidates Shahzad Hassan Sheikh, Chaudhry Abdul Latif Hanjra, Ziauddin Ansari and M R Awan are vying for the top slot.
Seven candidates Azfar Kamal, Arif Mehmood Chaudhry, Malik Sultan Ahmad, Obaidur Rehman Gondal, Chaudhry Liaqat Ali Pannu, Ali Nawaz Butt and Fida Hussain are in run for two slots of vice presidents. Furthermore M. Riaz Bhatti and Mian Muhammad Hafeez are contesting for vice president (Model Town Seat).
Syed Farhad Ali Shah, Rana Intizar Hussain, Jawad Akbar Gill and Shahid Maqsood are vying for bar's secretary. The contestants for joint secretary are Zulfiqar Ahmad, Mobeen Akhtar, Faisal Sagheer Rana, Shahid Nawab, Chaudhry Shahid Mehmood and Atif Raza Iqbal.
Three candidates Azeem Akhtar, Hafiz Mushtaq Ahmad Naeemi and Azmat Nazir Hashmi are contesting for slot of finance secretary. For the slot of library secretary, there will be a one-to-one contest between Sheikh Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Hafeez Rafique while Sheikh Tariq Hussain has been elected unopposed for the slot of LBA auditor.
The candidates who have filed nomination papers for bar's executive body include Muhammad Sajjad, Muhammad Mumtaz Malik, Abid Latif Khokhar, Mian Tabbasam Ali, Sajid Munawar Qureshi, Muhammad Anwar Khan, Syed Tahir Hussain Shah, Arshad Mehmood Mian, Muhammad Khalid Islam Bhatti, Muhammad Shahbaz Chughtai, Muhammad Afzal, Rana Asim Zubair, Chaudhry Naik Muhammad, Mazhar Mehmood Bhatti and Muhammad Saeed. For the seat of members executive body (Model Town), Faisal Ali has been elected unopposed.
