Reservations of coalition partners being addressed, says Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari said that the reservations expressed by MQM during its delegations' meeting recently with him in Islamabad were being addressed and the policy of reconciliation and taking on board all stakeholders would continue as before.
He said this during a meeting of the PPP ministers, advisors and MPAs of Sindh in the Bilawal House Karachi and later while talking separately to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah Wednesday. The meeting of PPP provincial legislators was also attended by the Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmad Khuro.
Briefing the journalists about the meeting Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that the President also said that PPP legislators and ministers should refrain from issuing hostile statements against coalition partners. He expressed the hope that the misunderstanding between the coalition partners will soon be resolved.
Misunderstandings between coalition partners do arise, the President said, and added that efforts must be made to remove them and not let them linger to harm the hard earned political stability in any way. The President said that general elections will be held on time after two years and asked the party legislators to be ready to face the voters when the time comes on the basis of their performance while in office.
The President called for a questionnaire to be sent to all MPAs to answer questions about what each legislator had done for the people of his or her constituency, the bottlenecks encountered and the unfinished projects during the last three years.
Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting reviewed the law and order situation, the flood rehabilitation measures, drainage of flood waters in Dadu and the status of the various development projects in the province. Home Minister Zulfikar Mirza gave a briefing on the law and order situation in the province particularly in the interior Sindh while the Irrigation Minister Jam Saifullah Dharejo gave a briefing on the flood relief measures in Dadu and other districts.
The President directed the home minister to step up efforts aimed at improving the law and order situation in the province and to keep him posted about the progress made. The President also directed the relevant agencies to provide track APCs and helicopters to the Sindh police on a priority basis for improving security in the interior Sindh. He said that the track APCs and helicopters should be used to cover all the thanas (police stations) in the katcha areas of the province.
In a related development the President today (Wednesday) also took note of the Gotki incident and the registration of cases against demonstrators under anti-terrorism law and sought for a report in the matter. The President expressed concern over reports that anti-terror law was being employed indiscriminately against demonstrators, Farhatullah Babar said.
