WEG, Punjab University's Department of Gender Studies sign MoU
Punjab University's Department of Gender Studies and Women's Empowerment Group (WEG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the purpose of extending academic, research and technical co-operation on different women issues including economic empowerment, health, gender equity and equality.
In charge Department, Professor Dr Samar Fatima and Executive Director Women's Empower-ment Group, Omer Aftab signed the MoU. Faculty members and students of the department were also present.
Senior faculty member of Gender Studies department, Raana Malik said the WEG will facilitate the department for awareness programmes and study circle for the students and will also provide an opportunity of internships and voluntary work to the students to get some practical experience. While Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) students have excelled at BRAINIAC 2010 competition held at University of Engineering & Technology (UET) by the UET-ACM.
In quiz event, PUCIT students' team comprising Mohsin Saeed and Sohaib Nadeem clinched first position. In speed programming event, students' team comprising Muhammad Arif and Jawad Javed secured second position, Shakeel Ahmed and Neelam Shahzadi bagged third, Rumman Khalid and Umer Asim stood fourth while Muhammad Akram Muhammad Adnan managed to secure fifth position.
