Proposed blasphemy law: TNR calls nation, traders to join shutter-down strike on December 31

The Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat (TNR) has appealed to the nation, especially the traders to join the countrywide shutter-down strike on December 31, against the proposed amendment in the blasphemy law. Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaquat Baloch, addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Tuesday said that every faithful would take pride in sacrificing his life and property for the protection of the Holy Prophet's sanctity.
He was sure that the trading community would respond to the shutter-down call enthusiastically. Leaders of other religious and political parties including Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, JUI-F Information Secretary, Maulana Amjad Khan, JUP's Malik Bashir Nizami were also present on the occasion.
He said the December 31 strike would show the world that Pakistan is the country of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) slaves and not the US slaves. He announced that the movement for the protection of the Holy Prophet's sanctity would continue even after the shutter-down and the Mahaz would hold a big public meeting in Karachi on January 9. The Secretary General JI said that pressure on the government to amend the blasphemy law from abroad and within the county was mounting and the rulers had already yielded to that.
The colonial powers wanted to convert Pakistan into a secular state gradually for the realisation of their nefarious designs and the secular lobby within the country, the foreign funded NGOs and the so-called human rights bodies were taking keen interest in this matter with the motive to push this country towards confrontation.
