Labourer killed as roof of a building collapses

One labourer was killed and two others injured seriously when a roof of under construction two storey building caved in at Girja village of Rawalpindi on Tuesday. According to eye-witnesses, three labourers Mansaf, Asif and Nazir were working in the under construction house belonging to Mehdi Khan in Girja village in the outskirts of Rawalpindi, when roof of second storey building collapsed and all the three labourers buried under the debris.
After the building collapse, people of the area rushed to the scene to evacuate the buried workers. The Rescue 1122 team reached the site and after a seven-hour long operation, they succeeded in evacuating two labourers Asif and Nazir alive, while Mansaf, a 25-year old belonging to Fateh Jang died under the debris. The two injured labourers were rushed to the nearby hospital where they were reported in critical condition. The body of deceased labourer was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.
