Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Quaid Altaf Hussain and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday telephoned Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman separately and discussed the prevailing political situation in the country.
JUI-F sources told Business Recorder that they discussed the situation in the wake of MQM's decision of quitting the Cabinet besides other important issues of national interest. Sources said they agreed to adopt a common strategy to deal with the situation and to keep close contact in future as well.
In his telephonic conversation, sources said, MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain and Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman discussed the issues raised by the latter in his Tuesday's press conference, in which he also demanded resignation of Prime Minister Gilani. Fazl assured his party's support in restoration of law and order in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, sources added.
Altaf Hussain said MQM would not compromise on the sovereignty, dignity, independence and honour of Pakistan. MQM wants all the patriotic political parties get united and take the country out of present morass, he added. He said some elements are hatching conspiracies to trigger ethnic clashes in Sindh.
Meanwhile, Chaudhry Shujaat also held telephonic conversation with the JUI-F Chief and assured him his party's full support. Sources said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain assured Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman that his party would not join the ruling coalition.
SHEIKH RASHEED CONDEMNS PML-N ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MQM Meanwhile, Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed on Tuesday condemned baseless allegations against MQM by PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif. During a telephonic conversation with MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain, Sheikh Rasheed said MQM's major and positive role in the country's politics cannot be ignored.
Both Altaf and Sh Rasheed exchanged views on the situation after the MQM announcement of quitting Cabinet. They also took up internal and external affairs along with overall political situation in the country. Both the leaders agreed on co-operation in future for the betterment of the country.
