Punjab Governor, Salman Taseer has said Benazir Bhutto was an international leader and Pakistan Peoples Party (PP) will make all efforts to fulfil her mission. He was addressing a ceremony held in connection with the third death anniversary of former PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto at the Governor House on Monday. He has said general elections would be held in 2013.
There are rare chances of mid-term elections or collapse of government, he added. He further said that he had strong belief that the PPP would win the next elections and they would form a government both at the federal and provincial levels. "The PPP came into power six times, and not even once it relied on backdoor politics or conspiracies to enter into power," he added.
Taseer paid rich tributes to Benazir Bhutto and said that she left behind feelings of emptiness and powerlessness "She struggled for restoration of democracy in Pakistan throughout her life and she also sacrificed her life for the cause of democracy. Her sacrifice would always be remembered as she is alive in the hearts of people," he added.
