Suicide attack at Parade lane Rawalpindi: two terrorists arrested

Rawalpindi Police claimed to have arrested two terrorists who were behind the suicide attack at Parade lane Rawalpindi while huge cache of explosive, arms and ammunition was also recovered from their possession.
Two terrorists have been arrested by Rawalpindi Police and huge cache of explosive, arms and ammunition was recovered while during the preliminary investigation they have given some clues and leads", said Hamid Mukhtar Gondal, Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi on Monday while talking to reporters.
It is pertinent to note that four terrorists equipped with guns, grenades and explosive jackets stormed Parade lane Mosque in Rawalpindi on December 4, 2009 during the Friday prayers' and killed over 40 persons including 17 children whereas over 75 other were injured.
RPO Gondal revealed to media that Police stopped a vehicle LRR-4700 in the jurisdiction of Chontra Police Station, in the outskirts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. During the search 25 Repeater Guns, 20 magazines, 70 pistols, 25,000 bullets along with explosive was recovered from the vehicle, he added.
Two persons were arrested who were later identified as Rab Nawaz son of Muhammad Riaz and Muhammad Amin son of Khan Muhammad, both belonging to Mulach-Zai village of Muhmand Agency, he said, adding that the detained terrorists have confessed that they have links with a defunct terrorist outfit of extremists.
He said that during the preliminary investigation detained terrorists have given some important information to investigators, which will help break the terror network. In the line with the information gathered from the detained terrorists' police parties were sent to chase them, he added.
Responding to a question about Car Race incident at Bharia Town, RPO Gondal said that Police arrested Manager of Bharia town Waleed and two other persons in the case. "We have arrested three persons in the Car Race case who are under investigation while Red Warrants are being issued for arrest of two absconders through Interpol", he said. He said that two persons have escaped and efforts are under way to issue Red Warrants for their arrest through Interpol.
