Resorting to a welfare move to help the deprived families feed them respectfully, 'Helping Hand for Relief and Development' (HHRD) extended interest-free loans worth Rs 1.9 million among 135 households of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The function was organised by Micro Finance Department of HHRD with Muhammad Zahid, Director, AJK government Social Welfare Department, in the chair here the other day.
Fazal-ur-Rehman Country Director HHRD said that the program, though a limited effort, would help eliminate poverty from AJK. "It is need of the hour to expend its scope to the rest of far-flung areas as well, so that the poor could reap the benefit of such scheme," he added. He said that pro-poor policies would enable the financially deprived class to feed their families respectfully, and added that providing them interest-free loan would eventually become a permanent source of their livelihood.-PR
