To celebrate the 134th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan Television Corporation Saturday arranged a programme "Rehbar-e-Taraqqi-o-Kamal" to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation. Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira, was the chief guest at the programme held at the Mazar-e-Quaid on Saturday night.
Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Sindh provincial Ministers Pir Mazhar ul Haq and Syed Ali Nawaz Shah also attended the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Qamar Zaman Kaira, praised the Pakistan Television's management and artists for presenting a very good and inspiring programme on the occasion of birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam.
He said that under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam we achieved a homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent. Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Pakistan is equally a country for the citizens of all religions and classes who can live here and practice their faiths without any restrictions.
He said that Quaid-e-Azam had achieved Pakistan through democratic means. Information Minister said that the present government is putting the country on the path of democracy as envisioned by the Father of the Nation. He also congratulated all the political forces for extending their assistance in this very journey.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Quaid-e-Azam had a lot of expectations from the youth of the country. He said that on this very day we renew our pledge to the Father of the Nation "we will strive to make Pakistan a democratic country, an objective determined by Quaid-e-Azam."
The Information Minister said "we can overcome the obstacles on the path to achieve this by inculcating tolerance and diversity and to contribute our best to serve the country." This, he added, will lead to fulfilment of the dream of the Quaid-e-Azam and this indeed would be the biggest tribute to the Father of the Nation.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said what we are today is because of Pakistan and we should be proud of being Pakistani. The Senior Minister of Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, in his speech said that he has come with the message that if the people of Karachi exhibit unity, brotherhood, love and respect for one another then the Quaid's city can be made a citadel of peace.
He said that Karachi is the city of Quaid Azam and therefore it is the city of all. Bashir said that Karachi is the backbone of the national economy and with peace in Karachi, Pakistan will make a rapid headway. He said that forging unity and cohesion would be a big tribute to the Father of the Nation. Bashir also referred to the fight against terror and said that Pakistanis will defeat terrorism and militancy and ensure a bright future for the country.
