It gives me pleasure to witness the establishment of the Sindh Bank as yet another facet of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's vision for the people is realized. The launch of the Bank will bring social, agricultural and economic development in the province and encourage innovation and motivation while creating employment opportunities.
The establishment of Sindh Bank was not an easy task. But the tireless guidance of the Honorable President of Pakistan provided an unparalleled impetus, as did the kind patronage of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. To establish a commercial bank which, in addition to offering ordinary banking services, would also remain mindful of its part in economic development, and within the rules and regulations of the State Bank of Pakistan, extend credit facilities and microfinance to the needy and deserving elements of Sindh's rural and urban class. A bank which in its professionalism, transparency and client loyalty, would be a model for others to emulate. I am confident that Sindh Bank will more than live up to this vision.
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, with her clarity and farsightedness, combined with her zeal to serve the people of her nation, was resolute in what she planned for her government to achieve. "We must do much more than decry the past. We must change the future," she proclaimed - and with the establishment of Sindh Bank, we are doing just that.
