The Karachi Port handled 110,091 tonnes of cargo including 71,414 tonnes of import cargo, 38,677 tonnes of export cargo, 2,978 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 71,414 tonnes comprised of 19,404 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,922 tonnes of general cargo; 35,283 tonnes of bulk cargo: 806 tonnes of sugar; 25,800 tonnes of coal; 8,587 canola seeds and 8,805 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,677 tonnes comprised of 18,892 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,731 tonnes of general cargo; 8,570 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,691 tonnes of cement; 4,879 tonnes of rice and 7,484 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely Lt. Genova, Triton Swift, Spar Gemini, Concord and Manila Express containers, general cargo, bulk cargo and containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eight vessels viz Lodestar Genesis, Sima Sahba, Manila Express, Williamburg Bridge, TS Dubai, Violitta, SD Nova, Fair Wind and Oriental Freesina carrying tankers, containers, general cargo, bulk cargo and containers are currently at the berth. Five ships namely Lodestar Genesis, Violitta, Nemtas-1, Sea Lavender and Easy Prosperity with chemicals and coal expected to sail on Friday, while three ships namely Williamburg Bridge, TS Dubai and Lady Nariman carrying containers and rice are expected to sail on Saturday.
Four vessels viz MT Karachi, New Challange, YM Europe and APL Sharjah carrying crude oil and containers due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz Positano, Teera Bhum, Cape Manuel and Troy with containers and rice are due to arrive on Saturday.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV MSC Jade, CV CMA CGM Onyx, CV Libra Ipanema, CV New Delhi Express, CV Santa Paola, MV Lanka Mahapola, MV Al-Jaber, MT Al-Deerah and MT Mukhtarah are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, sugar, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Four ships namely MSC Suden, Glory, MY Young and Cape Edgemont carrying containers, sugar and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz namely CV MSC Suden, CV Glory and MV MY Young with containers and sugar are expected to take berths at Container Terminal-1, Container Terminal-2 and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday.
Two ships namely CV Hammonia Roma and MT Maersk Cameron with containers and palm oil due to arrive on Saturday. Two container vessels viz CV MSC Nederland and CV Maersk Georgia are due to arrive on Sunday, while two more vessels viz MT Maersk Cameron and MV Timiros Stavros are due to arrive on Monday. A total number of three ships namely Norgas Orinda, Orion-III and Pana Glotisk carrying chemicals, cement and canola seeds are also due to arrive.
