The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) succeeded in getting ISO 9001:2008 for its three big Company Registration Offices (CROs) in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad on Friday. The external ISO certification audit was conducted by DAS Pakistan, which is a world-wide certification body, accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
The quality management system has been developed and implemented by these CROs, which includes quality policy, quality manual, quality system procedures, quality objectives and checklists. This also includes documentation of all the procedures of CROs in the form of standard operating procedures. This achievement is a significant milestone of the year 2010, which helped the CROs in streamlining procedures, documenting every function and removing the gaps in procedures. This is expected to go a long way in further improving the CROs' performance to the optimum satisfaction of stakeholders in future. At the ISO certification distribution ceremony, the chief executive of DAS Pakistan appreciated the SECP efforts, saying that it is the only regulatory authority to obtain this certification.-PR
