Chairman Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), Haroon Agar has urged the National Tariff Commission (NTC) to withdraw antidumping duty imposed on hydrogen peroxide. He expressed that local hydrogen peroxide manufacturing companies have developed monopoly after imposition of antidumping duty on hydrogen peroxide.
He said in just last three months its price moved up by Rs 40 per kg. Earlier it was available at Rs 30 per kg now it priced tagged at Rs 70 per kg. A 30 kg jar which was offered for sale at Rs 900 per jar now cost Rs 2,100 or Rs 1,200 more. He noted that total demand of hydrogen peroxide is around 80,000 tons per annum whereas the local companies producing around 60,000 tons per annum while rest of the demand is met from imports. He said after imposition of antidumping duty import of hydrogen peroxide reduced substantially owing high rate of taxes, which come to around 80 percent.
