The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Thursday granted six-day physical remand of former City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Saud Aziz and SP Khurram Shehzad to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and adjourned the hearing till December 29. The ATC III, Rawalpindi Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed resumed the hearing of the Benazir Bhutto assassination case under a high security in Adiala Jail.
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) of FIA led by Director Khalid Qureshi presented the two detained police officers before the court for seeking their physical remand. The FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar pleaded before the court that twelve-day physical remand of the two detainees be granted for further investigation into the high profile murder case. He said that investigators want to inquire their cellphones record, as they were responsible for the security of the slain PPP leader and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
However, the learned judge questioned the prosecutor and FIA investigation team, as what did they do for the last many months and why did not they collect the record of their cellphones. The prosecutor apprised the court that the cellphone of Khurram Shahzad had already been seized and its record was being retrieved. The Court asked about recovery report of the cellphone, which was presented by the prosecutor after an hour. The learned judge then granted a six-day remand of the two officers to FIA and adjourned the hearing till December 29.
