Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar on Thursday informed the National Assembly that there was a gap between supply and demand, which resulted in gas load shedding and low pressure. He assured the house that the situation would be better next week.
Responding to a point of order in the House, he said that gas load management plan was being chalked out equitably for the country and schedule of load shedding was made in consultations with all the stakeholders. He said that the government was well aware of the hardships of industrial units, which would be addressed soon by increasing gas supply next week to across the country particularly to Faisalabad.
Earlier, speaking on a point of order Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)'s MNA Abid Sher Ali raised the issue of interrupted gas supply to industrial sector particularly textile industries in Faisalabad. He said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani during a meeting with industrialists and Punjab Chief Minister had promised uninterrupted gas supply to industrial sector. He said that textile industries in Faisalabad have been badly suffered due to gas load shedding, which is the backbone of the country's economy.
