The Provincial Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgri has said that special efforts will be made to patronize the artists of Sindh and to promote their services. He was speaking as chief guest at a seminar on Our Art: Past and Present organised by the Institute of Art and Design University of Sindh in collaboration with Sindhi Adabi Board Jamshoro at the Institute here on Wednesday.
The Provincial Minister while lauding valuable services of artists of the country especially province of Sindh said that they promoted name of the country in abroad through their art contribution. He urged upon the management of Board and Institute to prepare a feasibility report and a list of artists and said that he personally will approach to the Chief Minister of Sindh for allotment of residential plots to the artists of the Sindh. He said that their government has always respected the artists and promoted their services and added that artists are the key part of any civilised society.
Bhurgri highlighted efforts taken by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for the patronising the artists of the country and said that their government is working on same footprints set by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He said that for the acknowledgement of high services of renowned artists awards will also be given the artists of Sindh.
Renowned artist and short story writer Fatah Halepoto speaking on this occasion highlighted services of senior artists and teachers who taught art in the schools sharing his memories of teachers Halepoto said that their teachers contributed a lot to teach art to their students. We must work practically instead of lip services for promotion of art. Halepoto said and added that our society specially educated people, writers and intellectuals should come forward for promotion of art and contribution of artists. He appreciated efforts of Sindh University and the Sindhi Adabi Board for organising such important seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, Inamullah Shaikh stressed the need of writing of history of Sindh in independent manner and said that art contribution of Sindh will took a special space in history of Sindh. He also lauded great services of artists like Gul Muhammad Khatri and others and said that there is dire need that the government should patronize art with special steps and encouragement.
He said that history of Moen Jo Daro, old buildings of British period and tombs at the Makli are great witness of the history of art. Dr Muhammad Ali Bhatti, Director, Institute of Art and Design announced that collaborative work on art will continue to promote the art. He also highlighted programmes imitated by the Institute and degree courses in different disciplines. Dr Bhatti also appreciated services of senior teachers and scholars of the institute for the development of the institute and said that their services always be remembered.
