Rabbi Royan has presented his letter of credentials as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative in Pakistan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Wednesday. Earlier, Royan arrived in Islamabad on December 1 to support the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Government, said a press release issued here by the UN Information Centre.
Royan is a Malaysian national who received his masters' degree in Economic Policy from the Boston University, USA in 1985. He joined UNFPA in 2003 and worked in different senior positions as a population and development advisor at UNFPA Headquarters, New York. Prior to his arrival in Islamabad, Royan served as the Senior Technical Adviser at the Asia & the Pacific Regional Office, UNFPA in Bangkok from January 2009 to October 2010. Royan also held various senior-level positions in the Malaysian Government. He has rich experience in public policy, development, planning, population and health.
