Deputy Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has said that the corruption in the Hajj scandal was to the tune of 40 million Riyals and not merely 1. 6 million Riyals, as admitted by the Federal Interior Minister. He said that all concerned had drawn their shares from this booty and things would become clear, as the matter would be unfolded during honest probe.
He, however, asked the government to reimburse 1.6 million Riyals to the pilgrims according to its announcement as compensation for the ill treatment they got during pilgrimage. The JI leader said on one hand, the rulers were plundering national wealth with both hands deeming it their last chance, while on the other hand, they were punishing the general public in the form of price spiral, every day increase in utility bills and load shedding.
