The people of Saraiki belt feel that they are being made slaves by Lahore via Larkana and the process was initiated during the tenure of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. These views were expressed by President, Saraikistan Qaumi Movement (SQM), Hameed Asghar Shaheen while addressing a press conference along with Chairman, Pakistan Hamdard Saraiki Ittehad (PHSI), Malik Rehmatullah, here on Tuesday.
SQM President said that the feudals of Larkana had always used Seraeki feudals to exploit the people of the belt. Shaheen said that if Sindh had rights over its gas and Baloch over Gwadar Port, then why the Saraeki had not any right over Indus River and Chashma Jehlum Link Canal that flow through Saraeki belt. Supporting the construction of Kalabagh Dam, he said that the recent floods highlighted the importance of KBD.
SQM chief said that the movement for a separate Saraiki province was lingual, cultural and national movement. He expressed the optimism that the people of Saraiki belt would be able to get a separate province soon. Other office-bearers of SQM and PHSI were also present.
