PTI observes hunger strike in front of Punjab Assembly

Published Updated

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab on Tuesday staged a token hunger strike in front of the Punjab Assembly to protest anti-people policies of the rulers. A large number of people participated in the token hunger strike along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and workers to express their resentment against anti-people policies and raised slogans against the government.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI President Punjab Ahsen Rasheed said the common man is committing suicide while the politicians, who claim to be the representatives of the people, are living in their palaces and spending the hard earned money of the poor people, collected through different taxes, on foreign tours. He further said that it is an irony that these corrupt rulers are further squeezing the blood of the common man by imposing new taxes on the people who are already paying taxes, instead of exploring new way and means to capitalise the God's given resources of this land. "The current rulers do not know the meaning of hunger and can not understand the sufferings of millions of people fighting over one bread in flood affected areas or even else where in Pakistan," he added.
He warned that if the government does not change anti-people policies, these 'hungry lions' will attack all government offices. PTI Central Information Secretary Umer Sarfraz Cheema said plight of the common man is worsening day-by-day and these politicians are least concerned about it. He observed that the people have given them a mandate to ensure their rights, but these politicians turned out to be the real exploiters.
