US hits Revolutionary Guard with new Iran sanctions

Published Updated

The United States hit Iran's Revolutionary Guard and shipping line with fresh sanctions Tuesday, ramping up pressure on the Islamic republic over its nuclear and weapons activities. Sanctions were placed on entities linked to the guards corp - seen as a key driver of Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program - including former energy minister and guards member Parviz Fattah.
The Treasury Department also sanctioned Liner Transport Kish, for "providing material support, including weapons to Hezbollah" on behalf of the guards.
