Of 'pillars' and 'tripod'

Global Anti-Corruption Day was observed across the world on December 9. Understan-dably, the current Pakistan Peoples' Party-led government decided not to observe this day officially and abandoned it, as was widely reported by the domestic media.
This media report failed to amuse the civil society of the country, for, the PPP-led government strictly observes and celebrates "Anti -anti-corruption day," everyday, 365 days of the year! There is not a single day when a new revelation of corruption is not made by the media, while a "rotten-headed" dispensation gleefully and shamelessly celebrates corruption, laughing all the way to its secret coffers, period.
The army chief is on record to have declared his support to the current dispensation as he holds all corrupt to the core, political leaders in high esteem, whatever it means! As for the opposition is concerned, honestly speaking, there is no opposition in the country as all political parties in fact, are coalition partners in one way or the other, tacitly lending support to the leading ruling party. Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N chief, has said that he and his party will "not sit idle and remain quiet" if the government did not take action to curb corruption. From London, with love, comes the call of Altaf Hussain to his constituency to get ready for a long march and a "revolution" against the corrupt! These are all untenable, empty, meaningless and mere rhetorical pronouncements, not to be taken seriously. The fact of the matter is that nobody is going to get up from the current comfort zone, lead, come out in the streets for a long march and revolt against the corrupt dispensation. So, who is kidding, who? Hail the corrupt.
