Bangladesh cancels rice deal with Cambodia over shipment delay

Published Updated

The deal was signed in August at $453.00 a tonne in an effort to shore up depleted reserves and combat record high prices of the staple grain in domestic markets.

Traditionally the world's fourth-biggest rice producer, Bangladesh has emerged as a major importer of the grain this year after floods damaged its crops and helped pushed Asian rice prices to multi-year highs in June.
