LAHORE: With a view to facilitate the people on the occasion of Muharram-ul-Harram, CNG filling stations in the Punjab Province will remain open on Monday and Tuesday this week during the Muharram holidays.

This was stated by Managing Director, Sui Northern Pipelines Limited SNGPL Arif Hameed here on Sunday.

He said that people in large numbers have gone to their native towns and home cities on the eve of Muharram, similarly after Muharram they have to return their homes.

SNGPL has realised since the closure of CNG stations would add difficulties, therefore, it has decided to keep the CNG stations open till December 06, Hameed added.

MD, Arif Hameed presided over a SNGPL meeting here to review of the natural gas load management programme and to evolve a plan on gas distribution during the Muharram holidays.

It was decided that gas load management schedule for CNG sector would be relaxed and supply of gas would be available for CNG stations on Monday and Tuesday to facilitate the general public in view of Muharram.

CNG Association and commuters appreciated SNGPL management's decision to keep CNG stations operational for convenience of the commuters.

It was further decided that natural gas would be provided to all the stakeholders on equitable basis and relief on priority will be provided to domestic consumers during winter.

The Gas Company agreed that no sector would be neglected, while distributing natural gas as the government follows the policy of equitable distribution without any favouritism. It was also decided that during the winter season stakeholder meetings should be held on monthly basis to apportion gas to the various sectors according to availability.
