According to a survey conducted by APP, despite serious financial constrains and electricity crisis, exporters are trying their best for doubling the export volume through a tough competition in the world market to earn valuable foreign exchange for the country. Undoubtedly, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are playing a significant role not only in strengthening the national exchequer but also providing employment to thousands of workers in Sialkot. At present, the business community related to surgical, soccer ball and sportswear industries are facing acute shortage of trained and skilled workforce. The Punjab government should take immediate action for setting up training institutes for men and women to impart training in different trade fields in accordance with demands of the local industrial sector. Timely action of the government cannot only help provide trained workers to the industry but also help reduce unemployment in the area, businessmen said. Besides, there is a need of setting up SMEs industrial estate in Sialkot.
