Senate body asks NATO to provide Rs50bn for reconstruction of roads

The meeting of the committee, which held here under the chairmanship of Senator Gulshan Saeed, said the country is already passing through the history's worst economic crunch and NATO should be contacted to provide the required money for the early reconstruction of roads which are being ruined by their containers.

The meeting also discussed the ongoing projects of Port Qasim Authority (PQA), all projects completed during the three years and financial position of the projects.

The committee directed PQA and Ministry of Ports and Shipping to hold meetings in order to discuss the damages of roads in the area and present its report before the committee.

The Chairman directed the Secretary Ports and Shipping to provide the detailed report of Gawadar Port and its agreements with different parties adding that the officials of the port must give a detailed briefing to the committee elaborating the reasons behind its delay of functioning.

The Chairman PQA briefed the committee about the projects which have been completed and informed that the authority provided some four hundred jobs opportunities during the last three years.

The Committee also directed the Chairman to provide the detailed report of its leased land and jobs criteria.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Muhammad Ismail Buledi, Tariq Azeem, Dr. Abdul Malik and Almas Parveen.
