Special security arrangements made for Zakireen, Ulema

LAHORE: Police have made special security arrangements for Zakireen and Ulema during Muharram-ul-Haram Majalis and will remain high alert.

Foolproof security arrangements are being made at women Majalis with the help of Ladies Police. City Traffic Police will also provide an alternate route for the convenience and smooth flow of traffic, while wardens are deputed at such places.

CCPO directed to ensure strict implementation of three layered comprehensive checking, in order to provide foolproof security to Muharram processions, while traffic and Thana police have been directed to jointly ensure comprehensive checking and screening of all vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws.

He said that Muharram processions ought to be provided security from each side including rooftops, besides blocking all routes, side lanes and roads with barbed wire.

He said that patrolling system be made even more effective to protect all sensitive places. CCPO directed that presence of bomb disposal squads, along with members of Mohalla and peace committees, ought to be ensured. He said that all entry and exit points of the places of Majalis will be covered and roof top deployment will be made at Imam Bargahs.

He directed that parking be made at a safe distance, preferably 200 meter, from venue of Majalis and precessions. He said police officers and more than 12 thousand police Jawans would provide security cover to 4000 Majalis and 640 processions, while armed personals would also be deputed to provide security to different programmes to be held on daily basis.

He said that 134 mobile squad, 85 motor bikes, 75 cars, 11 cars of Elite Force would also be deployed on this occasion. Similarly, Lahore Police force would provide security cover to 297 Imam Bargahas and 787 Mosques falling on the routes of procession.

Ahmad Raza Tahir said that code of conduct would be strictly implemented during Muharram-ul-Harram and 1068 members of District Peace Committee would remain present on the routes of processions and Majalis especially at sensitive places. In his order, He further directed Lahore Police to ensure there is no impediment in the flow of Muharram processions, for which special traffic plan has been evolved by traffic authorities, besides providing extraordinary security cover to women majalis and processions.

He said that metal detectors and walk-through gates should also be used at all entry points in order to recognize and search every person, whereas police officials be given briefing regarding sensitive spots to deal with any untoward incident.
