Case against vulgar songs of Naseebo Lal: SSP directed to submit report on July 20

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed SSP (Investigation) Lahore, to find out those persons, who wrote, composed released and made CDs of vulgar songs sung by Naseebo Lal and state which section of PPC should be applied to prosecute them and file his report on July 20. LHC has taken this action after Naseebo Lal said that she was forced to sing such vulgar songs.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by a local lawyer Asif Mehmood Khan, who said that the departments concerned in connivance with some other criminal elements were not only violating the law, but also spoiling the integrity, sanctity and morality of the society. He said the two respondent female singers Naseebo Lal and Nooro Lal with the connivance of other respondents were busy in making and singing songs of some kind of illegal, indecent and immoral.
He said the shelter given by the government to these singers under the certification of Motion Picture Ordinance 1979 was quite illegal and heinous nature against the integrity and sanctity of our social and religious society. Petitioner prayed to the court to impose complete ban on all the impugned audio/video songs of the two respondent female singers and their certification and exhibition should also be banned forever.
On previous date of hearing CBFC had informed the court that it was governed by Motion Pictures Ordinance 1979 and its main functions were confined to censorship of cinematographic films presented to it for certification and there was no provision in law which empowers it and other respondent departments to intervene or check the ugly work being prepared and played by the respondent singers.
