CT2017: Pakistan’s Zaman wants India in finale
Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan latest in the line of hitters has grabbed cricketing world attention thanks to his blistering stroke play in the ICC Champions Trophy.
The opening batsman, who made his debut during the ongoing tournament, provided his side with much needed batting impetus at top of the order, leading his side to the finals, Zaman has proven to be the aggressive partner with solid Azhar Ali at the other side.
With scores of 31, 50 and 57 in his three matches, and all three resulting in wins Zaman is being labelled as Pakistan’s lucky charm.
“Yes,” he said with a laugh in an interview to ICC.
“You can say that because I've played three matches and we've won all the three. So you can say that, but all the boys are playing well and the credit goes to all of them, especially the bowlers.”
Explaining his aggressive nature of batting, Zaman said, “At this stage, if you can play the shots, you should play them."
“At this level, all teams have quality bowlers and quality attacks. If you go on the back foot, they'll come very hard. In my mind, I always try to get on top of the bowlers and play some shots.”
When asked about, which of the two teams i.e. India and Bangladesh would Fakhar prefer to face? Fakhar answers “India.”
Pakistan will take on the winner of the India vs Bangladesh semi-final, on Sunday at Oval.
