Finance Minister to inaugurate Seminar on Economic growth

The Seminar to be attended by the economic experts, both from public and private sectors, would discuss the ways and means regarding the revival of economic growth in Pakistan and steps taken by the present government to achieve this objective.

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Minister for Finance ,Revenue , Economic Affairs, Planning and Statistics will inaugurate the event, and highlight the measures taken by the government for the revival of economic growth in the country, official sources said.

After the inauguration of the Seminar, there will be four sessions. The first session will be held under the chairmanship of Dr. Rashid Amjad Vice Chancellor of Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) on the subject 'Removing constraint to growth'.

The panelists would include Dr.Ijaz Nabi, Dr.Salman Shah, Asad Umar,and Dr. Shams Kaassim Lakha.

The second session will be presided over Sartaj Aziz while Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Dr.Shamshad Akhtar and Mian Tariq Saigol would be the panelists of the session on topic 'Rising savings and investments while ensuring inclusive growth'.

The third session of the seminar will be presided over by Syed Salim Raza on the subject 'Broadening and deepening the financial sector'.

The panelists of the seminar would be Zubair Sumro,Jahangir Khan Tareen, Ms.Roshaneh Zafar and Bashir H Ali Mohammad.

Similarly the fourth and concluding session on the topic 'addressing fiscal problems' will be chaired by Mueen Afzal while the panelists would be Dr.Hafeez Pasha, Shaukat Tareen,Haroon Akhtar and Musleh ud Din.

A press conference would also be held summing up the recommendations and outcomes of the seminar for the implementation of policy makers.
