"The Unit will be responsible to provide full security to such a witness, his relatives and his property. Moreover, if required, he will be provided alternate residential facility," the Minister said while addressing the members of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Wednesday.

He said that maintenance of law and order would remain the top priority of the government to provide secured business friendly environment for the trade and industry in the metropolis and elsewhere in the province.

The Minister said that the government was also making efforts to end the VIP culture from the Police Department so that they could serve the masses without any discrimination.

"Police has been given a free-hand so that officers may not be pressurised for undue favours by any influential member of the society," he maintained.

Wassan said that he approached all segments of the society to get their assistance for restoration of peace in the city and expressed his optimism that positive results will be reciprocated by the Police Department as well.

Referring to the demands of the KATI members, he assured them that police will provide them all the required cooperation for maintenance of law and order and curb elements allegedly involved in extortion or other acts of criminal activities.

Earlier, the KATI chairman Ehteshamuddin highlighted the problems related to law and order in Korangi industrial area.
